They say that you should save the best till last, well I think they've saved the hardest till last. This blogs will be short and sweet featuring an example of both deductive and inductive reasoning.
Deductive reasoning is an inference from general claim to a particular conclusion. For this example I will use the 2001 World Trade Center attack. A suicide attacks against America's governmental buildings are done by terrorists. These suicide attacks occurred to government building therefore it was done by terrorists.
Inductive reasoning is an inference from many particular claims to a general claim or to other particular claims. For this example I will talk about my mum's work (Bundaberg Special School). A student tripped over an unmarked step, so did multiple other students therefore all students will trip over an unmarked step.

Hi Everyone!!
Sorry that this blog is a bit late. I have been off to Rockhampton and back this weekend for a Res School so I'm a little behind once again. This blog requires students to follow on line of inquiry through the different levels in the accimap. Now I found understanding this map slightly challenging, I won't lie. So to make this hopefully easier for you to read and me to write, I will be following one line inquiry in the World Trade Center (WTC) attack on September 11, 2001.
This was a horiffic attack that led to the death of thousands including: office workers, bystanders, police men, fire fighters, terrorists and of course plane passengers. The attack destroyed the famous twin towers as well as destroying some of the other WTC buildings. (The Twin Towers were buildings 1 and 2 on this map)

There were numerous events that led to the death of so many people so I will only follow one line of inquiry. My line of inquiry will follow the security failures that allowed armed terrorists onto the planes. We begin with the deaths of close to 3,000 people including 92 passengers on board the first plane, approximatley 400 resucers (firefighters and police) as well as 600 civilians plus many more.
These deaths occured due to numerous factors including smoke inhalation, burns, impact (for plane passengers and officer workers on the floors the plane struck), falling debris and even aspestos exposure (for people who survived the initial attack). But the biggest killer in the WTC attack was the collapse of the Twin Towers.

The Twin Towers collopsed within an hour of each other after extreme heat in the steel that supported the structures, fires that raged through the majority of both buildings, and structural failure in both building were recorded.
The fire and extreme heating of the steel was a result of the fuel (and other chemical substances) combusting. The structural failure was the product of many support beams being demolished. The extreme heat, fire and structural damage all occured during or after an areoplane flew into each of the iconic buildings.
The two areoplanes flew into the Twin towers because Osama Bin Ladin and his following, Al Qaeda, decided to make a statement to the American government. A total of four planes were hijacked on September 11 however only two flew into the WTC.
According to Abkowitz (2008 p131) 14 terrorists were able to board four seperate American flights on the morning of September 11. "All 14 of these men passed through security despite 5 of them being selected by the Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System (CAPPS) or customer service for increased security screening, 2 setting off metal detectors, 1 having no photo identification, and 1 having trouble giving acceptable responses to standard security questions." Mark Abkowitz (2008 p131).
If the terrorists hadn't been able to board the planes, the planes wouldn't have been hijacked, if the planes hadn't been hijacked then they would not have been flown into the Twin Towers, if the planes had not been flown into the Twin Towers then the extremely hot steel, fires and structural damage would not have occured, if the extremely hot steel, fires and structural damage would not have occured then the towers wouldn't have collapsed, and if the towers hadn't collapsed then those thousands of people wouldn't have died.
